I am happy to say that my Valentine plus quilt is finished. This quilt was made with a layer cake and charm pack of the Ever After line plus some larger scraps.
I enjoyed planning the quilting design. My first thought was to add hearts with the quilting. However, there were already so many hearts on the fabric that I decided to quilt feathers instead. At first, I was going to do a swirly feather design.
I warmed up by doodling on my big white board, but then the design changed.
I guess the quilt really wanted a more open feather/plume design.
It flowed very well once I started quilting. I didn't even want to stop to take a picture of it with my Tiara. ;)
The quilting looks awesome on the back of the quilt. It is a hot pink minky I found on clearance at my LQS.
One of the down sides of putting minky on the back of a quilt is that sometimes the fibers work up through to the top when you are quilting. I have discovered that quilting with thread the same color as your minky helps to hide that.
The top was busy enough that the hot pink thread blends in a lot of the places and stands out in others. I really like it.
The binding is the same on this quilt as on my other favorite Valentine quilt, Quilty Kisses. I am so glad I bought an extra yard of it eighteen months ago.
I named this quilt "Valentine Addition" for obvious reasons.
It might live in this chair next February.
It looks really pretty with the black piano and black drapes.
I will just keep it in my craft room until February. It fits right in with my other black and white plus pink/red quilts.
Besides, Monkey likes to play on it with the Duplos from the white cubes.
