Private FMQ Lessons
I recently had a request for a private free-motion quilting lesson. I was pleased that I was still able to arrange my room to fit two six foot folding tables even with the Bernina Q24 taking up so much space.
I put all of my class examples on the cutting table by the window. By the end of the class most of them ended up draped over the bars on the longarm.
My sewing cabinet moved over to the side where my design wall is most of the time. (It ended up in the closet again.)
The private lesson ended up being a lot of fun. I had four people come for the class. A husband and wife and their son and daughter-in-law. I love to see families quilting together!
I also really love my craft room/studio. I may set it up like this again sometime for my little quilting group.

I use the bars of my long arm to store quilts and all kinds of things when it is not in use; it's a lovely place to drape quilt top waiting to be quilted, for example! How fun that you really got a full family in for a lesson. Your new home and space seems so well sized for your needs and I love how easily it seems you can rearrange it.
ReplyDeleteI use my longarm to hang quilts, tops, and rows when I am working. I love your craft room too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so neat you have the ability to rearrange your room so easily! So private FMQ on the sit down I assume then?
ReplyDeleteA whole family learning to fmq together sounds like so much fun! It's great that you can arrange your space in so many different configurations to suit your needs :)
ReplyDeleteI am scared of FMQ, and of the dreaded tension issues leading to nests and eyelashes. The Craftsy class I took seemed to be blah... I wish I lived closer to you. I would absolutely be a part of your class.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! How much fun that must have been to teach a family in your own space?!
ReplyDeleteHa! Jasmine, with all the changes in your life, it sounds like that large quilting studio may need to be expanded upon! :) Seriously, that is so neat that you are able to teach in your home! Sounds like you had a super time!
ReplyDeleteOh this is great Jasmine. You are such an inspiration. I wish I lived closer to you as well. I am so proud to know you, and now you are really sharing your skills.
ReplyDeleteJasmine how fun!!! Love that you are able to have this new space to share your passion for quilting.
ReplyDeleteOh so exciting! You are my inspiration!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had great fun with the private lessons. I love doing private lessons and I have the tables set up the same way. I have a 3rd table that fold in center on hand for cutting or big quilt basting, I'm working on finding a table for my sewing and cutting area, that way I don't have to move my stuff out of the way. Those space fills up fast, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rea! It is nice to hear from someone else who has given private FMQ lessons. The space does fill up pretty fast, but it is wonderful having the space.
ReplyDeleteThis looks relaxing, Jasmine. Sounds like everyone had a great time!
