Pillow Time

 

I recently made these two pillows for my mom.  They were made with the scraps from two turning twenty quilts she made (and I finished) in 2016.  

I cut out the pieces with the 3.5 inch Accuquilt square die.  It is so nice for scraps!  I did pull out four of my own scraps.  Each pillow panel has two each of 24 different fabrics.  Then they have a one inch finished white border to make them 20 x 26 inches.  

I made a pink one to go with the pink bordered quilt.  

I made a purple one to go with the purple bordered quilt.

And here are the backs which were made with the leftover border fabric.  

In exchange for the pillows my mom gave me the rest of the leftover fabric and scraps.  It was a win win.  

I also turned two practice blocks from Kitty's pony quilt into a two sided pillow.  

The brown one was the first block Mom made before I asked for My Little Pony inspired colors.  

This gray minky pillowcase was made for Cheetah to take with him to college.   He was excited for a fuzzy pillow to match his dorm room bedding.  

I used my own Minky Pillowcase Tutorial to make it.  

More pillows are on my bucket list.

Mom's Popsicle Sticks

 

My mom is having a harder time pinning things due to carpal tunnel.  So I offered to help her finish up her batik quilt.  She had all the blocks pieced and one row sewn together.  (The blocks didn't want to stay up because I had the ceiling fan turned on.)

I pieced the quilt top together while she went to buy backing for it.  

Then I quilted it on the long arm.  

The spiral loops worked really well because there were a lot of spirals and circles in the batik prints.  

The backing is a wide fabric which didn't require any piecing.  

I also did the binding for her.  It is all leftover green fabrics from the jelly rolls she used.  

We are both so happy it is finished.  

My mom used the Popsicle Sticks pattern by Atkinson Designs for this quilt.  

I love quilting with and for my mom!

Camping Quilt

 

I decided to finish my camping quilt next.  I bought some dark brown fabric for the border.  Cut it out at 5 inches and added it to the top.  Then I loaded it on the frames.  

I quilted it in the loopy spiral late at night and finished it up pretty quickly.  

It is bound in a green and brown print.  My sweet mother provided the wide backing which has birds on it.  

I laid it on the floor to check it out.  It is pretty big finishing about 93 inches square.  

Then I took it over to Cheetah's bedroom.  It looks so nice in there.  

It will probably stay there until I make him a new quilt of his own.  (He wants one like my Floating quilt in pink, purple, and red with black.)  

I love how it turned out and used up so many of my outdoorsy scraps.  My husband especially loves this quilt.  

I'm already planning on another improv log cabin quilt.  This time in my black and white scraps.

Wedding Quilt for T & M

My nephew T and his fiance M requested a red quilt.  When I asked what else, they asked for black and red.  I added some white and gray to lighten it up.  ;)  My colors were inspired by this baby quilt on etsy.  

This quilt used seven 6 inch squares from twenty different fabrics.  I chose the fabrics as I was placing them on the design wall.  

Some fabrics, like that daisy print, were vetoed by Cheetah.  

One all twenty fabrics were chosen, they were placed on the design wall ten squares across by fourteen down.  

Then they were stacked up nice and neat to work on one of the other wedding quilts.  (This is actually the first one I cut out.)  I eventually got it pieced.  

Then it was quickly loaded on the frames with some black minky.  

I quilted it in the double loop/spiral loop.  Its the second one quilted like that recently.  It is fast and fun.  

Black minky is hard to photograh.  

I squared it up...

Then placed it on the longarm with the rest of the wedding quilts needing binding.  

I actually finished the binding on all four on the same day.  They were all bound in black.  Taking nice pictures of each quilt actually took more time.  

It felt so good to have them all finished before the first wedding this year!  

Here are the finished pictures of the quilt for T and M.  

It is a good thing I love my nephews, because they all have looked good in my piano room.  

I guess that just means I need to make more quilts.  ;)

Wedding Quilt for T & S

This quilt was made for my nephew T and his fiance S.  It is inspired by the artwork of Piet Mondrian.  I shared how I made the quilt top in my previous post.  

  

I got it loaded on the frames with a gray minky backing.  Then I quilted it with simple wavy lines like Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts.  

I thought that the wavy lines would hold it together without taking over the modern design.  

I think I accomplished that.  

It is bound in a solid black to blend in with the border.  

While it has been finished for awhile, I had a hard time getting some good photos of it.  I'm happy to share it today.  

  

I'm excited to give it to T and S this weekend!

Even if it does look right at home in my piano room.  ;)
